Overview
This position will be in General Surgery caring for Neonates. This is an inpatient role and will require PNP- AC.
Acute/Inpatient :
Will be responsible for inpatient care of neonates on the General Surgery service in the NICU.
Will collaborate with the NICU teams to provide appropriate neonatal care for surgical critical care infants. IE co-management for preterm infants less than 36 weeks gestation.
Will provide surgical consultative service to the NICU teams
Will provide education to bedside staff as well as participation in education for incoming critical care fellows. Critical care fellows spend 1 year in the NICU learning and providing surgical critical care.
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse I (APRN-I) provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. The APRN-I participates in beginning leadership, evidenced-based practice/ research, and organizational development activities with the support and direction of an experienced APRN mentor.

Responsibilities

- Professional Practice: actively participates in beginning leadership, evidenced-based practice/research, and organizational development activities with the support and direction of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse mentor.
- PNP Acute Care required upon hire
- Master's Degree Required and 1-2 years experience Pediatric RN experience. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty.
- DNP preferred and 1-2 years experience Pediatric RN experience. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty.
- Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
- Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
- RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
- APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire
- Successful completion of national board certification in one of the following: Certified Nurse Midwife OR Required Upon Hire
- OR Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) MO & KS Required Upon Hire
- OR Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist MO & KS Required Upon Hire
