Position Title: In-Home Therapist- Therapeutic Training and Support
Reports To: In-Home Therapy Supervisor
Primary Site: Roxbury/Boston
Summary: Therapeutic Training and Support is a service provided by a qualified paraprofessional working under the supervision of a clinician to support implementation of the Master level clinician’s treatment plan to assist the youth and family in achieving the goals of that plan. The paraprofessional assists the clinician in implementing the therapeutic objectives of the treatment plan designed to address the youth’s mental health, behavioral and emotional needs. This service includes teaching the youth to understand, direct, interpret, manage, and control feelings and emotional responses to situations and to assist the family to address the youth’s emotional and mental health needs. Telephone and consultation are provided as part of the intervention
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with the In-Home Therapist as a team to ensure implementation of the goals and objectives identified in the treatment plan
Advocate for and access resources to address the youth’s emotional and mental health needs.
Interact with agencies such as (DMH, DCF, DYS, DPH, MCI etc...) to support services/care planning and coordination on behalf of and with the youth and parent/caregiver.
If youth is enrolled in Intensive Care Coordination, participate in all care planning meetings and processes for the youth.
Complete all necessary paperwork and data entry assignments in a timely manner.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in human services field from an accredited university and one (1) year of experience working with the target population, or Associate’s degree in a Human Service field from an accredited school and one (1) year of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth, and a minimum of two (2) years experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth.
Experience navigating any of the child and family –serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems
Must have exceptional writing and communication skills
Must possess a current valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, must have proof of automobile insurance.
