Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Associate plays an important development operations support function for our growing department. Working with all team members, this person will be critical in assisting the team's efforts with a wide range of tasks that are vital to our team's overall fundraising success. This position is perfect for someone seeking to gain exposure to a high functioning development team that raises over $63 million a year. Essential Responsibilities
- Fundraising Efforts
- Assist with the creation and implementation of the annual fundraising plan, including, but not limited to, fundraising campaigns, events, and donor outreach.
- Conduct check-ins and assessment throughout the year.
- Conduct research on prospective corporations, foundations, individual donors, government funding opportunities, and other potential funding sources.
- Help prepare and coordinate mailings of fundraising appeals and acknowledgement letters.
- Assist with major fundraising events in such areas as logistics and volunteer coordination, etc.
- Strengthen fundraising strategies and communications by providing support for the development team to cultivate and maintain relationships with existing donors and engage potential new supporters/prospects
- Assist in the creation and distribution of printed and online event materials such as invitations, programs, flyers, registration pages, etc. and coordinate printing and delivery.
- Reporting
- Assist with the preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders to reflect fundraising progress and the effectiveness of current and past fundraising efforts.
- General Administrative Support
- Perform administrative duties as needed including copywriting, mailing, and maintaining the filing system.
- Assist in scheduling meetings and maintaining development team calendars.
- Keep updated on incoming emails, follow-up, and follow-through.
- Handle special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma / equivalent with at least 1-2 years of experience
- Has some experience in nonprofit fundraising and has a high level of discretion and ethical approach to fundraising.
- Demonstrates transferable experience in required responsibilities and familiarity with the AAPI, immigrant, and low-income communities.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and follow through with minimal direction.
- Attention to detail, project management skills, research skills, and being highly organized a must.
- Flexibility in varied job assignments.
- Possesses exceptional written and verbal communication skills and reliability
- Willingness to pitch in when/where needed.
- Proficient in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, and other computer skills as required.
- $28.02 – $36.26 per hour; 15 – 20 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends; flexible hybrid / remote work possible
