SECONDARY CLASSROOM TEACHER
Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Mechanics
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: A secondary teaching assignment, teaching classes in Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Mechanics to pupils in grades 9-12. Assists in other school programs as assigned by site administrator.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must have an in-depth background in overall farm management with emphasis on Animal Husbandry dealing with beef cattle, sheep and horses. Must have a working knowledge of Agriculture Mechanics with skills in both arc and gas welding. Must be experienced in preparing fields for grazing pasture, truck farming (gardening) and caring for a citrus grove. Must be able to work under a flexible schedule in order to have the program fit the needs of the students. Advisor and sponsor of the high school’s Future Farmers of America. Develops weekly lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy and curriculum of the District. Provides students with the opportunity to partake in daily patriotic observance. Education Code 52720. Monitors classroom environment to ensure clean and safe conditions exist, notifying principal of and unclean and unsafe classroom conditions. Monitors classroom activities making students responsible for putting materials, supplies, tools, etc., safely and neatly away at the end of class session. Other duties as assigned.
CREDENTIAL: A valid California Secondary Teaching Credential in Agriculture with course work in Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Mechanics.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree with a major in Agriculture and course work in Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Mechanics.
EXPERIENCE: Supervised student teaching or full time teaching experience in Animal Husbandry or Agriculture Mechanics with practical Animal Husbandry experience desirable.
