We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Cook to join The Vista, an independent adult resort style living community. Come demonstrate your skills in the kitchen and bring your culinary skills and talent. The Cook is responsible for the preparation of foods for Vista residents as per position responsibility sheet. Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production and portion control using established procedures, and standardized recipes. Responsible for using appropriate quantities of food needed to meet production needs as per production sheets. Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary work area. Responsible for following food safety guidelines. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.
Competencies:
- Is familiar with, and practices the proper techniques for personal hygiene, food safety, and sanitation of his or her work area.
- Demonstrates the ability to safely use, clean and store all equipment used within the scope of the job, including, but not limited to, knives, sharpeners, stoves, steamers, slicers, mixers and food processors.
- Correctly follows standardized recipes and prepares food in large quantities.
- Is familiar with all specific assignments within the production area(s), and exhibits the ability to assume the responsibilities of each.
- Is familiar with the use of departmental production and daily assignment sheets, and exhibits the ability to correctly follow the portion control techniques.
- Prepares menu items, as directed.
- Understands, reads, and follows recipes.
Schedule: 12pm-8pm, Weekend rotation requires working two weekends in a row with one weekend off.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent required. Vocational or higher education in food service field preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should have a minimum of (1) year experience.
- Previous experience in cooking, baking or cold food production.
- Must be proficient in the use of ovens, steam kettles, brazier, slicing machine, blender, robot coupe, mixer, grill, ranges, steamer, knives, fryer, and buffalo chopper.
- Must be able to assume special cooking assignments beyond the scope of standard diets as required.
- Must be able to fulfill the responsibilities of the position without direction of the Executive or Sous Chef present.
- Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
- Must have the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Current Serve Safe food handlers certificate preferred.
