Why This Role Matters
The successful candidate will join Christie’s Jewellery Department and be responsible for arranging all shipments & logistics in compliance with domestic, international and internal laws & policies. The role will oversee cost-tracking initiatives related to budget management. Support the department and sale coordinators including but not limited to answering phones, client collections, arranging appointments and assisting with general auction or private sale inquiries. Operate as back-up Inventory Controller.
How You Will Make An Impact
Manage all inbound and outbound Jewellery shipments with clients, vendors and regional offices, including property packing, quotes, airway bill creation, delivery notifications, and scheduling airport meetings as needed
Process and efficiently communicate with relevant staff and clients the arrival of auction and private sale jewelry lots with detailed email notifications mentioning client, stock, contents, condition & photo
Arrange all imports & exports including proforma invoicing, packing lists & airway bills while maintaining US and international compliance standards
Handle lab shuttle shipments for jewelry testing, SSEF and Gubelin labs
Arrange pre-auction & post-auction consol shipments for Geneva and Hong Kong in conjunction with Business Support Group, PostSale, Client Accounting, Compliance & receiving sites
Collaborate with local and regional Exhibition Coordinators to advise on shipping timelines for tours, including carnet orders, packing property, packing/shipping display forms, creating photo labeling & submitting security request forms
Liaise with Security and Insurance & Risk on hand carries, including tours
Handle insurance paperwork & follow up with Insurance & Risk for tour plans
Oversee CITES compliance and application requirements in conjunction with Art Transport
Track logistics-related costs and arrange invoice payment via Christie’s systems
Order and manage inventory of packing & display supplies (boxes, tissue, ribbon etc.) as needed
Sustain relationships with suppliers; negotiate costs and service level
Speak regularly with Post-Sale to discuss shipment status’s and to ensure compliance with Christie’s policies. Communicate shipping directions and tracking information to clients in a clear and professional manner
What You Will Bring To The Team
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
Accountable with strong project management skills including timeline management and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
Experienced working with international shipments of high value art and/or luxury goods
Highly organized and capable of tracking multiple projects and costs
Exceptional client service skills including superior verbal and written communication skills
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Ability to collaborate and problem solve across multiple teams and sale sites
Ability to work with discretion when dealing with highly confidential information
Familiarity with US Fish & Wildlife regulations
Knowledge of Christie’s systems and/or willingness to learn
Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel
