Job Description

The Residential Advocate provides crisis intervention, support, advocacy, and security for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. The positions can be day, evening, overnight as well as full-time or part-time.

Responsibilities for the Residential Advocate include, but are not limited to the following:

· Crisis Intervention/Emergency: The Residential Advocate increases safety factors concerning residents who enter the shelter. The Residential Advocate is trained in all emergency procedures, i.e. calling emergency personnel, de-escalation of crises, hotline calls, and other related emergencies.

· Intake of new residents: Intakes often begin by working with local law enforcement agencies to transport victims to the shelter. Residential Advocate’s assist residents in entering shelter, reducing feelings of crisis, and enhancing feelings of safety. The Residential Advocate is then responsible for completing all required intake paperwork.

· Orientation: These procedures ensure that residents are aware of all shelter guidelines, are introduced to other residents, and know what to do in case of an emergency.

· Advocacy: Residential Advocates may provide support services to victims of sexual assault and family violence. These services include crisis intervention, hospital advocacy and referrals, legal advocacy, when requested.

· In addition, Residential Advocates will complete case management and all other required paperwork and documentation for each shift that is worked.

· All Resident Advocates will attend the training as requested by the administration.

· Assist with client transport, as needed.

· Assist with quality assurance processes and other office duties.

· Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, preference for higher education in the human service field

· 1 – 3 years’ experience in the human services and willing to work with victims of domestic and sexual violence

· Must be able to work nights, evenings and weekends.

· Clear a Missouri Highway Patrol criminal background check.

· Must have valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers—typing and/or writing. Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Talk and hear.

STATUS: Full time (benefited) and part time

DOL STATUS: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
