The purpose of the position is to provide lifeguard services at County owned aquatic facilities year round. Head guard will be responsible for daily operations during Aquatic Supervisor's absence. Responsible for overseeing patron safety and overall facility maintenance. Work according to some procedures but decide how or when to do things. This involves technically skilled duties, scheduling chemical delivery and supplies.
Must be available work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

- Supervise and assist with In-service training for lifeguards
- Participate in and ensure lifeguards participation in daily physical conditioning, consisting of at least 20 minutes of cardiovascular exercise

- With the help of the Aquatics Supervisor, schedule lifeguards and ensure compliance with Child Labor Laws
- Perform routine lifeguard duties as required
- Ensure proper communication with supervisor
- Monitor pool chemistry
- Graduation from an accredited high school or an acceptable GED equivalency diploma
- Must be at least 18 years old
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of lifeguard experience is required
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience supervising and training employees is required
- Must possess and maintain the following American Red Cross certifications:
- Lifeguard
- First Aid
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- Water Safety Instructor
- Lifeguarding Instructor
- Water Aerobics Instructor
- CPO – Certified Pool Operator
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver License
- Must have working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must be dependable
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses 100C and 700B
- Must be able to swim 500 yards within 10 minutes
- Requires medium to heavy work that involves sitting, walking or standing virtually all of the time
- Involves frequently lifting and carrying 20 pounds and occasionally with to 50 to 75 pounds
- The job requires frequently bending, squatting, climbing and kneeling as well as occasionally balancing, jumping, throwing, twisting and reaching about the shoulders
- The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, depth perception, and texture perception
