General Description

Creates, schedules, and oversees special event programming at all Community Centers. Maintains direct contact with community organizations. Creates and implements a variety of special events and camps for all ages, provides customer service and supervision during all activities and special programs provided by Citrus County Parks and Recreation.

This full-time position works a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Salary Range: $13.54 - $18.33 hourly; Pay Grade: 105U

EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES
All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location, and work schedule based on the needs of the County and its citizens. Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.

Essential Functions

  • Creates, schedules, and supervises special events and camps for all ages.
  • Performs office and/or clerical work maintaining data, records, and reports.
  • Opens and closes facilities or parks before and after leagues, special events, and programs.
  • Assists with reserving and issuing of contracts or permits for facility usage.
  • Assists in assigning keys for building rentals.
  • Enforces Park and facility rules. Performs minor maintenance functions and provides facility supervision.
  • Assists in budget planning process.
  • Performs cashiering duties and issues receipts.
  • Creates various content/flyers utilizing Microsoft Publisher.
  • Assists with marketing of all youth, adult sports leagues, special events, and camps utilizing social media platforms and Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Inspects building and/or park facilities for lighting and safety problems.
  • Administers first-aid for accidents or injuries, reports to supervisor and timely documents all accidents and injuries.
  • Attends all necessary trainings and meetings.
  • Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Education, Training, and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, or specialized vocational training.
  • Three (3) months relevant work experience.
  • Six (6) months experience in event programming or coordinating preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration, Skills
  • Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
  • Ability to work after normal business hours (may include nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Current certification in Infant, Child, and Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) or completion within 6 months of hire date.
  • Excellent customer service skills, communication skills and strong attention to detail required.
  • Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
    • IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and
    • IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • The job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and balancing, and on occasion jumping, throwing, twisting, and reaching above shoulders.
  • The job requires the completion of tasks that involves frequent simple grasping, pushing, and pulling, and occasional fine manual manipulation, typing, operating foot controls/levers, and driving automotive equipment.
  • The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.
  • The job may risk exposure to adverse weather.

Supplemental Information

Summary of Benefits: Citrus County Board of County Commissioners provides a comprehensive benefit package. Employees are eligible to participate in the County's insurance plans if they are working a minimum of 30 hours per week in a benefit-eligible position. Coverage will become effective the first of the month following a 30-day waiting period. For example, an employee hired on April 10, the effective date of coverage will be on June 1.
