JOB DESCRIPTION
JOURNEYMAN TRADESWORKER - ELECTRICIAN
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) High School Diploma or GED preferred.
(2) Possess a valid Florida Driver’s license.
(3) Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
(4) Current training and experience equivalent to a journeyman’s level.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the electrical trade, local and national electrical codes, hazards of the trade and the appropriate occupational precautionary measures. Ability to locate and correct defects in electrical systems and equipment, make accurate estimates of time and materials, work from electrical diagrams and blueprints, and understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to direct and supervise the work of laborers and maintenance repairmen. Ability to exercise independent judgment in determining the methods and procedures required to perform the work.

JOB GOAL
Perform installation, alteration, preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
SUPERVISES:
N/A
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) Collaborate with other trades within the Maintenance Department to achieve district goals.
(2) Assist other trades as required.
(3) Install, alter, maintain, and repair transformers, ballasts, motors, controls, service entrances, wiring systems, switch panels, exterior and interior lights and other electrical devices, fixtures, appliances, and equipment, including cafeteria electrical equipment, as required.
(4) Install and make electrical repairs to specialized electronic equipment.
(5) Perform electrical repairs to specialized electronic equipment.
(6) Use standard and special electrical tools and equipment, such as voltmeters, ammeters, and power-factor meters.
(7) Utilize electronic devices for email communications, work order programs and record keeping.
(8) Use effective positive interpersonal communication skills.
(9) Perform job responsibilities with sustained focus and attention to detail for extended periods of time.
(10) Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position. *

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the district’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the district.

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation
of personnel.
