What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at City of Albemarle?
Scope of Role
The Camp Counselor is responsible for overall day-to-day group programming, discipline, direct supervision and management of children in the Summer Camp Program.
Essential Duties
- Supervise children between the ages of 7-12
- Facilitate both formal and informal activities
- Assist with set-up and break-down of activities and cleaning of program area
- Maintain positive and appropriate relations with children, parents, staff, etc…
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Be enthusiastic and make camp a fun and safe place
- Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
Qualifications
- High School Diploma – course work or experience in after school programs, summer camp, recreation, child development, or any related course work
- Prior experience working with school aged children
- Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver's License.
- CPR/First Aid Certification within timeframe determined by the City. (Preferred)
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 20 pounds amount of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, operate a computer terminal, utilize measuring devices, operate a motor vehicle, and inspect work of others.
