WATER AND SEWER SUPERINTENDENT

The City of Americus is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Water and Sewer Superintendent. The starting salary for this position is $53,223.00 annually.

As the Water and Sewer Superintendent, your primary responsibilities would include planning, supervising, and inspecting the work of skilled and semiskilled workers engaged in the distribution of water, instructing subordinates in the more difficult water and sanitary sewer systems maintenance and repair operations and processes, planning and overseeing maintenance activities to ensure adequate water facilities and to meet consumer demands on a 24-hour schedule, ordering all necessary materials and equipment essential to the maintenance and repair of the water and sewer system. This position is also responsible for preparing the budget and tracking equipment costs for the division, and assuming responsibility for a variety of personnel functions including interviewing, selection, placement, discipline, safety, training, and resolving of grievances, inspecting and answering customer complaints and orders appropriate corrective measures and other related work as assigned.

Requirements include High School diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college; Requires six years progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of water and sewer systems and facilities. Required qualifications may be any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
