Positions assigned to this class provide quality services to the citizens of Apache Junction which includes the protection and preservation of life and property and the maintenance of an environment where people feel safe from crime and disorder; investigate crime and perform crime prevention work; enforce Federal, State and local laws and regulations.

The Physical Agility Test (PAT) consists of:
Must possess a High School diploma or GED, be a citizen of the United States AND; 1. Be at least 21 years old by the time of graduation from an Arizona police academy, OR; 2. Currently enrolled in or graduated from an Arizona police academy within six (6) months of application and obtain AZPOST certification as a Peace Officer within thirty (30) days of appointment.Knowledge

Candidates who are selected for appointment may be fingerprinted, if 18 or older; successfully complete a background investigation, employment verification and may be subject to a drug/alcohol test, medical, polygraph and/or psychological evaluation. Candidates who are appointed will be required to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a vehicle in Arizona, or meet the transportation needs of the position.
Licenses/Certifications
Certified by Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) or able to achieve AZPOST certification within six (6) months of appointment. Arizona Criminal Justice Information System Terminal Operator (ACJIS) certification within four (4) months of appointment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work requires walking, running, climbing, sitting and driving. Required to perform a full range of motion with lifting and/or carrying items weighing up to 100 pounds and exerting force between 20 and 50 pounds. Possible exposure to potentially hazardous, uncontrollable and life threatening situations. May be in contact with hostile or resistant individuals.

- Sit-Ups 31 within one minute
- Run 1.5 miles completed within 15 minutes
- Support City policies, goals and objectives and work with management and other staff to ethically achieve such goals and objectives; ensure compliance with safety procedures.
Must possess a High School diploma or GED, be a citizen of the United States AND; 1. Be at least 21 years old by the time of graduation from an Arizona police academy, OR; 2. Currently enrolled in or graduated from an Arizona police academy within six (6) months of application and obtain AZPOST certification as a Peace Officer within thirty (30) days of appointment.Knowledge

- Geography of the City and the location of buildings.
