The City of Birmingham, MI (EOE) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. Duties include protecting life and property, fire suppression, emergency medical care, maintaining equipment, apparatus and buildings; participating in daily drills, fire prevention, public education & miscellaneous duties as assigned.

- Possession of high school diploma or equivalent;
- State of Michigan Firefighter I & II Certification, with Basic EMT;
- Paramedic License training will be provided by the City after hire;
- Paramedic License is preferred at time of hire;
- Vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes;
- Valid Mich. Operator's License w/ good driving record;
- Physical condition appropriate for the position.
Applicants must pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) through the Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) Firefighter Testing Program prior to date of hire. CPAT waived for Firefighters coming from another jurisdiction with fulltime firefighting experience.

Firefighter/Paramedics with experience are eligible to start at two year pay and reach top pay after two years.
- Starting salary for a Firefighter/Paramedic is $54,309.41, with potential for up to $73,955.83, depending on qualifications.
- Top pay for a Firefighter/Paramedic is $85,631.73.
- All salaries based on July 1, 2021 wages, annual food & uniform cleaning allowances, & holiday pay.
