Job Description Summary
Perform inspections of residential and commercial projects to ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances. The position is under general supervision of the Building Official but is expected to exercise independent judgment based upon code knowledge and experience to render decision/direction to contractors and the public regarding field inspection matters. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Retirement: Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 7% employee contribution and a 2:1 match by the City of Burleson.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years as a municipal Building Inspector.
- Valid Texas Class "C" Drivers Licenses with a good driving record.
- State of Texas Plumbing Inspectors Licenses, as Issued by the State of Texas.
- Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of building inspection.
- Knowledge of principles, methods and practices of building construction.
- Knowledge of Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical Codes.
- Ability to read and interpret laws and other regulations relevant to the performance of assigned duties.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform inspections on roofs of commercial structures and other open, elevated structural elements.
- Ability to work under time pressures.
- Ability to operate a computer and associated software. Benefits
