What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Leader I/II/III (Day Camp - Part Time) position at City of Campbell?
The City of Campbell's Recreation & Community Services Department is seeking motivated, energetic, team-oriented individuals who enjoy working with children and teens for our Recreation Leader I, II, III positions!
The Recreation Leader will have the opportunity to plan, conduct, and supervise children ages 4 to 15.5 in structured activities such as games, camp songs, arts & crafts, swimming, and field trips in a recreational park setting.Location: John D. Morgan Park and/or Campbell Community Center
SCHEDULE
Staff Training: June 10th - June 14th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Camp Dates and Hours: June 17th - August 9th from 8:30am-4:30pm (Tentative)
SALARY
All positions are Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited positions. The Pay Rate will be dependent on qualifications and experience and is as follows:
- Recreation Leader I (High School) - $16.00 per hour
- Recreation Leader II - $17.00 per hour
- Recreation Leader III - $18.00 per hour
Recreation Leader II: Experience working with youth in a recreational setting is desired but not required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Recreation Leader III: Experience working with youth in a day camp setting or similar program is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Additional Qualifications:
- The minimum age at the start date of the assignment is 16 years.
- Tuberculosis test results must be submitted prior to scheduled employment.
- Work permit required if under 18 and still in high school.

SELECTION PROCESS
The most qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an interview. Selections will be made from the results of the interviews. Final selection is contingent upon a pre-employment criminal history records check and the ability to provide verification of authorization to work in the United States.

How do I fill out the application?

It is okay to list volunteer work or babysitting experience in the job experience section. What is the summer season work commitment?
In-service training is required for all new hires (6/10-6/14). Recreation Leaders need to be available to work a minimum of 6 weeks during the camp season (6/17 to 8/9). You can also apply to be an on-call substitute if you have prior experience working day camp or a similar program.

When will I find out if I have been selected for an interview?
Interviews will be granted to applicants who best meet the criteria listed for the position. If you receive a message or email, it is up to you as the applicant to respond promptly to schedule an interview. interviews will begin the week of February 20th and will continue until positions are filled.
Should I bring a letter of recommendation to the interview?
We will require two letters of recommendation. Reference calls can be in lieu of Letters of Recommendation. To expedite the hiring process, please be sure to attach these documents to your application online. Recommendations should come from a teacher, coach, church leader, or mentor (not a family member) who can provide comments on your work experience and/or leadership skills.
