The City of Chillicothe Civil Service Commission is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the following positions:

NATURE OF WORK:

This is unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual work.The work does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or previous experience in order to do an effective job. Work is usually performed under the immediate supervision of an employee of a higher classification, but many types of work assigned may be routine and repetitive in nature and, after they are learned, can be carried on with only general supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Picks up refuse and garbage and loads it in truck or load packer; sweeps streets and gutters; loads dirt from streets into trucks.Patches streets and alleys; cleans catch basins, manholes, and sewer lines; helps in installation of water services.Mows lawns; picks up paper and refuse from park grounds; maintains athletic fields; erects and makes minor repairs to playground equipment, bleachers, fences, and other small structures.Digs ditches; shovels snow; loads and unloads trucks; carries materials to other workers; cuts tree branches and removes fallen trees and branches.Washes trucks; services trucks with gas, oil, and water, and assists in minor maintenance of trucks and equipment.Operates miscellaneous power tools, including jack hammers, mowers, and other equipment, for limited periods of time in connection with work.Performs related work as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

Some experience in performing manual labor, and ability to read and write.

Completion of the 12th school grade or GED, or obtain GED within two years from date of hire.

Position requires a Driver’s License and be insurable under the City of Chillicothe’s fleet insurance coverage.
