Position Summary:
Under administrative direction of the City Manager the Finance Director directs, coordinates, and manages the City’s finances to provide accurate financial information to elected officials, department heads, employees and other reporting agencies all in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), State regulations, and City policies. This position is responsible for developing and establishing systems, administering rules, regulations, policies and procedures, to promote effective management of the City’s finances. The Finance Director supervises the City Treasurer, AP/Payroll, Central Collections, and Information Systems.
This single position class serves as the administrator of the City finance operations. Work is performed independently with extensive latitude to exercise independent judgment within the framework of existing policies, laws, ordinances and department procedures. This position is designated as management for labor relations purposes and is considered exempt under FLSA.
Desired Qualifications
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in finance, business administration, public administration, or related field, plus a minimum of five (3) years of experience in accounting, finance, auditing, public administration, non-profit administration, with a minimum of three (1) years of supervisory responsibility, or any combination thereof that demonstrates the skills and ability needed for the position.
