JOB SUMMARY: Provides technical advice and acts as the lead to pool, park and sports facility workers. Assigns and monitors work and assists staff with complicated and difficult assignments. Plans, develops and executes special events as assigned.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages staff by scheduling, prioritizing tasks, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, recommending changes and adjustments, monitoring staff performance and development, lead and facilitate meetings;
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations, financial objectives and marketing of programs and events for Ridley Sports Complex and the City pool, including determining distribution materials and methods of promotion;
  • Analyzes reports; evaluates and manages customer service issues, oversees enforcement of rules and regulations, ensure overall safety and security of facilities;
  • Assists with oversight of capital improvements and replacement programs;
  • Participates in planning the department budget, prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; monitors the budget for area of responsibility.
  • Provides oversight for contracted services providers who are responsible for a variety of recreation programs and vendor services;
  • Works with outside agencies and businesses to develop and manage partnerships;
  • Develops, manages and administers contracts, agreements with state agencies, school districts, vendors and contractors;
  • Executes and manages short- and long-term goals and strategic plans for the pool and Ridley Sports Complex;
  • Coordinates facility usage, including but not limited to, field usage, tournament coordination, and rental coordination;
  • Oversees turf maintenance functions that may include fertilizing, aerating, top dressing, mowing, de-thatching, and over seeding;
  • Operates personal computer, and maintains record of work activities;
  • Monitors the purchase, use and care of facilities and program equipment
  • Participates on committees, as needed

Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of:

  • Principles, methods, and practices of planning and providing community based recreational services; developing and implementing senior and you related activities and programs.
  • Budget development and monitoring program administration.
  • City Policies and procedures, community demographics, and recreational issues.
  • Methods and procedures of operations, recreation, cultural and social needs of the community.


Ability to:

  • Effectively plan and organize the activities or program areas
  • Effectively supervise, train and develop employees
  • Conduct research, analyze findings, and make recommendations, monitor contracts and agreements in area of responsibility.
  • Design, implement and administer programs; prepare reports
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff and the public
  • Interpret and apply city laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to recreation indoor and outdoor events and programs.



WORKING CONDITIONS: Office setting with frequent field visits and inspections. Occasionally may transport recreational equipment.



Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in recreation administration, leisure services, or a related field, and four years experience in professional recreation work and recreational planning including one year of supervisory experience.


Any equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid Tennessee driver’s license. May require on call and after hours support which includes evenings, holidays and weekends.



Salary : $47,403 - $71,178
