The City of Commerce City is hiring a Youth Services Specialist to help deliver engaging recreation and enrichment programs for youth and families. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Must possess current CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration certificates or be able to obtain them within 10 days of hire date. Must possess current Standard Precautions certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire date. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License and supply a current Motor Vehicle Record within 10 days of hire date.
Must have one of the following with documentation:
Background check and fingerprints required. Bilingual in Spanish desired.

Hiring wage is dependent upon experience. The hiring range is $21.66 - $23.80 / per hour.

Must have one of the following with documentation:
- A 4-year college degree with a major such as recreation, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, or a subject in the human service field, and 12 months (1820 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable experience, since attaining the age of 18, in the care and supervision or 4 or more children, not related to the individual
- Two years of college training and 6 months (910 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable experience, since attaining the age of 18, in the care and supervision of 4 or more children, not related to the individual.
- Three years (5460 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable experience, since attaining the age of 18, in the care and supervision of 4 or more children.
Background check and fingerprints required. Bilingual in Spanish desired.

- Ability to perform job duties autonomously
- Ability to work with a diverse population
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Demonstrate the ability to work with preschool age/youth/teens
- Creativity and positive philosophy with regards to youth programs
- Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented atmosphere that provides citizens and employees with accurate information
- Ability to take direction from and work cooperatively with the recreation coordinator and to be able to take responsibility for the program participants and classes independently.
- Ability to work with participants needing program adaptation or reasonable accommodation
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and various facility users in order to establish and maintain positive working relationships
- Ability to work closely with other City departments, vendors and community members for program support
- Ability to develop or assist in technology courses for youth, including but not limited to Rasberry Pi, Surface Pro Tablets, Ozobots ans Spheros and 3D printers
- Ability to ensure assignments and duties of volunteers and staff and are completed as prescribed
- Ability to coach students in a helpful and entertaining environment.
- Knowledge of the principles of organization, planning, development, and time management
- Knowledge of the reports and records required to meet the needs of the department and regulatory bodies
