JOB SUMMARY
This Maintenance Crew Leader I position performs various duties, including preventative maintenance of the sewer collection system, driving and operating a VAC Truck, dump truck and other equipment, as well as making small repairs and daily maintenance to trucks and equipment used. Other duties include construction related to water and sewer system installation and/or maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within one year of hire date. Must possess or be able to obtain a Class II sewer collection license and a Class C water license within one year of hire date.
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND WORK AIDES:
Sewer VAC/Jet truck, bulldozer, backhoe, trencher, dump truck, metal detector, trackhoe, loader, line locator, sewer camera, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Two years of experience in operation of vehicles and light equipment.
- Ability to understand and abide by City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work on call duty and respond at any hour during an emergency when requested.
- Must be able to attend after hours classes to renew or obtain required certifications/licenses when necessary.
- Ability to work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed.
- Must be able to lift weights of 50 pounds and 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be capable of conducting routine maintenance to vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to use all tools to accomplish the job in an efficient manner.
- Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.
- Must be capable of reading, writing and speaking in English.
- Must be able to communicate using a two-way radio.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
