The City of Corona is searching for an energetic and aspiring city management graduate student with outstanding research, communi cation, and organizational skills who desires to further their career in city management.
The City Management Fellow will gain experience in all aspects of city operations and should have a wide range of interests that reflects the various elements of city management. He or she will work closely with the City’s Executive Leadership Team and will be involved in research, analytical work, and advising on special projects. Fellows will be supervised by staff in the City Manager’s Office and interact with a variety of staff in other departments. Fellows will receive supportive supervision and professional mentoring throughout their fellowship. This opportunity is designed to set the aspiring city management professional on a solid career path.
This position will expand the leadership and management skills of the successful candidate and enhance his or her local government administration expertise. In addition, the City Management Fellowship is committed to preparing the next generation of local government leadership. THE ORGANIZATION
The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.
The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager’s Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works, and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and an Assistant City Manager.
The City's total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2025 is $ 399.1 million with a General Fund operating budget of $ 209.6 million. Corona enjoys a workforce of 922 dedicated employees who provide high quality services to its residents and visitors each day.

Education/Training/Experience
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in business or public administration, or a related field.
- Be currently enrolled or have completed the graduate degree within the past year of an accredited MPA or equivalent.
- Professional experience in administration, management, or systems, operations, or budgetary analyses is desirable.
- Performs a wide variety of administrative, project-related, and department-specific assignments to receive on-the-job exposure to municipal government processes, projects, programs, and issues.
- Assists the City Manager’s Office in researching high-level issues of concern.
- Performs entry-level program analysis, comparative study and research, and various statistical analyses to complete assigned tasks.
- Discusses findings with management staff and prepares reports of study conclusions.
- Researches, writes, and presents reports and recommendations on various municipal government topics.
- Performs a variety of administrative and/or technical tasks in support of City programs; assists the public.
- Assists in the coordination of data acquisition and materials development for various departments and assigned projects.
- Supports projects and activities across multiple City departments.
