Description
Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Leader IV (Facility Operations) monitors programs and events held at city facilities, assists with city-wide special events, supervises part-time staff, assesses the condition of the facilities and provides general customer service while working with the public. This position is temporary, part-time and must be available to work an average of 20 hours per week. The incumbent may be required to attend meetings outside of normally scheduled shift and work special events. There is currently one vacancy at the Senior Center.
Example of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Greet and interface with visitors and participants
- Provide general customer service and resources
- Oversee facility rentals and assist with city-wide special events
- Identify maintenance issues at program facility and coordinate necessary corrections with appropriate staff
- Review Facility Use Schedule, contracts, set ups and equipment requirements prior to the weekend
- Coordinate, monitor, secure, and direct the proper safe use of program equipment and facilities
- Coordinate facility maintenance & complete work orders and submit to Recreation Coordinator as needed
- Supervise, train and evaluate subordinate personnel
- Schedule staff each month in scheduling software and lead quarterly staff meetings
- Maintain inventory of various facility supplies
- Assist with budget preparation
Typical Qualifications
Experience and Education
750 paid and/or volunteer hours in a recreation program area or responsible experience in the coordination and implementation of a specialized recreation, community-based program, including extensive public contact and supervisory or lead person experience.

- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment.
- Must possess valid First Aid, CPR and AED certificates by the start of employment.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- A valid California driver license along with proof and maintenance of an acceptable driving record may be required.
