Purpose
The purpose of this classification is to assist the Telecommunications staff with the assigned tasks and assigned projects to install networking cable and wiring perform in-ground and aerial locates through Florida's 811 process assist with fiber optic cabling installations/terminations and install IP based cameras Employee must demonstrate effective communication skills establishes and maintains working relationships with customers co-workers and vendors. Work is performed under supervision of the Telecommunications Manager or delegate and is reviewed for technical accuracy and professional standards through conversation and observation of results achieved.Education; Training and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. A minimum of six months of experience working in telephony and networking is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid state of Florida Drivers’ License. Candidate who possesses Camera System certification; VoIP Certification; and experience with Low Voltage premise wiring is highly desired.Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Work with Telecommunications staff to complete a variety of assigned projects. Install networking cable and wiring Perform skilled installation replacement repair testing and maintenance of structured cabling and fiber optic systems in accordance with established codes and standards. Install IP based cameras Load truck and move materials and related equipment as necessary. Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner with other city employees departments vendors and subcontractors climb ladders operate lifts carry push and/or pull moderately heavy materials. Safely operate city vehicles lifts and trailers.
