What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Control Specialist – Night Shift - Water Resource Recovery Facility position at City of East Lansing?
Work consists of leading, overseeing, and performing technical tasks in the daily operation of the wastewater treatment plant while ensuring work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures, and to perform more technical and complex tasks relative to Plant and Pumping Station systems and operations. Makes rounds of facility to check equipment operation. Maintains equipment oil levels and lubrication when not practical for maintenance to do. Operates valves, pumps, etc. manually and by computer to put equipment in and take out of service. Controls the CSO/RTB operation both locally and remotely from the WRRF. Controls pumping stations remotely. Performs a variety of laboratory tests on wastewater, records process test results as appropriate within federal/state laws. Responsible for housekeeping of facility operations areas, CSO/RTB and Pumping Stations. Works on special projects related to facility operation. Maintains laboratory equipment and chemicals at the CSO / RTB. Assists maintenance in troubleshooting, equipment start-up and minor repairs. Performs all operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Associate’s degree or equivalent in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or related field, with two to four years of responsible experience in wastewater plant operations.
Special Requirements
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a D wastewater operator’s certification within two (2) years after being deemed eligible to test for the D certification, based on EGLE minimum requirements; advance license preferred. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Michigan driver’s license. Previous work record should reflect excellent attendance and timeliness record; must be willing to accept overtime when required.
