The City of Fitchburg is actively seeking to fill a role as our Building Attendant with our Parks and Recreation Department. Our ideal candidate will be responsible, trustworthy, and able to work independently with little supervision.The position is responsible for opening/closing the facility per weekend usage schedule, assisting user groups during rentals, and ensuring compliance with community center policies and procedures. Performs diversified tasks necessary to keep the Community Center clean during facility usage including restroom facilities maintenance, garbage removal, and vacuuming. The work schedule will vary depending on the scheduling of renters, generally between 5 – 20 hours per week. Evening & weekend hours will be required.
This position will remain open until filled.

- Provide overall building supervision during private rentals. Allow only those persons who are involved in the rental activities to enter. Maintain public relations with all attendees/participants of the rentals during scheduled events.
- Manage facilities for rentals and programs, which involve opening and closing facilities, monitor hallways and grounds, and assist users as needed. Seasonal snow shoveling and performing custodial operations as needed.
- Prepare accident and incident report forms.
- Assist by recognizing and notifying staff of maintenance issues. Advise center personnel of any facility problems.
- Carry out department procedures and maintain necessary records. Propose necessary rules and regulations for the operation of scheduled programs and facilities.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Prior work experience in a customer service environment desired.
Necessary Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to identify and analyze problems, evaluate alternative solutions and make sound judgments.
- Knowledge of a variety of custodial equipment and its uses.
- Knowledge of custodial cleaning supplies and their uses.
- Ability to work in an efficient and safe manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
