Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
- Perform safe and orderly traffic control and flagging duties within the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards and the City of Fort Collins handbook.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations, including operating small equipment.
- Protect yourself and the public from road construction and maintenance dangers.
- Protect the work crew from dangers presented by the traveling public.
- Ensure that traffic proceeds smoothly and in a timely fashion through the work zone.
- Set-up and break-down traffic control devices in work zones.
- Answer citizen questions and/or direct them to the right person.
- Respond to emergencies as directed.
- Control and direct the movement of the traveling public through construction worksites.
- Communicate effectively with construction crews and supervisors to coordinate traffic control

- Current Drivers License.
- Flagger Certification: may obtain certification through the City of Fort Collins when hired.
