General Purpose:
Under policy direction from the Water/Wastewater Supervisor; oversees daily wastewater operation; and performs related duties as required. This position is responsible for the operation, monitoring, maintaining, and trouble-shooting the wastewater treatment facility and its processes.
Essential Functions:
1. Oversees the operation of the City's wastewater plant.
2. Oversees wastewater systems throughout City to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and codes.
3. Oversees and collects required samples wastewater system for agencies; generates reports for compliance.
4. Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring, and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process, and storm water and sludge management.
5. Assist with the installation and inspection of new sewer lines and services.
6. Perform the installation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant and pump stations and components.
7. Assist in the performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and machinery.
8. Conduct the necessary weekend checks of the treatment plant on a rotating basis.
9. Prepares monthly report on wastewater systems.
10. Required to participate in the stand-by and/or call-out rotation to respond to problems after normal work hours, and on weekends and may be subject to call-out at any time when other call out personnel require additional assistance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of theory, principles, and techniques of municipal sewer maintenance functions.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local law, codes and regulations governing the administration of wastewater functions and activities.
- Knowledge of computer and other office equipment to prepare necessary paperwork.
- Knowledge of the operation, methods, and procedures of a wastewater treatment plant.
- Knowledge of the machinery used for wastewater treatment and pumping stations.
- Knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of State and Federal rules governing wastewater discharges and worker's safety.
- Ability to perform and document various tests required by State and Federal agencies for the operation of a wastewater treatment plant.
- Ability to perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of pump stations.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to exercise sound, expert independent judgement within general policy guidelines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with City Commission, City staff, other governmental and regulatory officials, private and community organizations, developers and other encountered in the course of work.
Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public works or utilities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses, Certificates, Special Requirements:
A valid Florida driver's license at date of hire.
Class C Water License
Class C Wastewater License.
