Water Systems Supervisor positions are available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department/Field Operations Division in Wastewater.
The Field Operations Division is a 24/7 operation and is the largest division of the Water Department and an integral function of maintaining the City of Fort Worth’s infrastructure. This position is essential to the daily operations of the division and has an integral role in the department's success. The ideal candidate/s will be responsible for supervising staff, identifying and allocating resource needs, assigning work to staff, investigating wastewater collection issues, inspecting work, responding to and resolving customer questions and concerns, reporting shift activities to day-time staff, and Supervision along with performing complex work in a variety of professional, technical and analytical safety functions in support of the assigned division/department. Ensures performance of all maintenance for the provision of the best quality water supply; and provides highly responsible and complex staff assistance to assigned senior management staff. Exercises direct supervision over highly technical staff.
Incumbent will have demonstrated advance knowledge of construction, maintenance, and repair activities; method and technique of maintaining and repairing water/wastewater systems. Their ability to use and operate hand tools, mechanical equipment, power tools and equipment required for working in a safe and efficient manner; operate a personal computer and used computer software programs; interpret and explain applicable policies and procedure; evaluate, train, and discipline employees. Possess leadership skills in communications, training, of subordinates, equipment, coordination with other groups and individuals, resolution of issues, initiative, and implementation of process improvements. Wil be responsible for promoting a strong work ethic within their group, focus and uphold departmental goals and priorities, and support and coach team members. Including having advanced working knowledge on various materials, practices, tools, and equipment used in water/wastewater systems; and have to lead, train, and work with no supervision.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in water utility field construction, maintenance, repair, or operational activities, including lead supervisory experience.
- Currently in possession of TCEQ Class II Wastewater Collections License is required.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass a physical and drug screen.
- Two (2) years of experience working with water utility
- Two (2) years of previous supervisory work experience.
- Extensive experience working with the public.
- Previous experience working with a large municipal utility
- Experience using GIS or other mapping software.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
- Leads, reviews, and trains assigned staff members in work areas including proper construction methods, design specifications for water and wastewater infrastructure, inspections, research, data analysis, etc.
- Performs research on existing and proposed city infrastructure projects for consultants, contractors, engineers, and management.
- Review plans for conformance to various construction methods to ensure design specifications for water and wastewater infrastructure projects are met.
- Provides administrative assistance to management; prepares spreadsheets and graphs; prepares and presents reports; provides statistical information for management.
- Develop project improvement, data analysis, and research techniques using feedback from management. Uses improved techniques for reporting requirements including, but not limited to schedules, compliance with approved specifications, and analytics.
- Performs technical and complex tasks of the work unit including reviewing engineering projects, researching of new and existing water and wastewater infrastructure and data analysis, creating GIS maps, and submitting updates to Water IT for GIS updates. Performs inspection and contract administration of water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Reviews and evaluates a variety of engineering and construction documents, including drawings, plans, designs, contract documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, environmental documents, and reports.
- Makes recommendations on capital improvement projects for water and wastewater system expansion.
- Prepares studies, and analytical and statistical reports concerning water and wastewater infrastructure. Submits and presents reports to management.
