Answer 911 and non-emergency calls. Dispatch out Police, Fire, and EMS. Must have good customer service skills and be able to handle a fast paced environment when needed. Must be able to multi-task and have good attention to detail.
Our Dispatchers work a 5 day on, 2 days off, 5 days on, 3 days off rotating schedule. That does mean that they work rotating weekends and holidays. This consists of 2002 hours per year.
Great job for someone with a Criminal Justice degree/background who does not want to go to the Police Academy or pursue a police officer career..
