Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Customer Service Manager performs a variety of complex accounting and general clerical duties in the receiving, recording, receipting and disbursement of monies regarding utility bills, licenses, permits and other sources of revenue. Conducts investigations of non-routine billing discrepancies and makes personal contact with customers to resolve billing problems. Work involves constant and extensive public contact.

STARTING HOURLY PAY: $15.21 p/h
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience handling cash transactions as cashier, clerk or related field
- Satisfactory utility payment history with the City of Gallup utility service, as applicable
- Valid driver’s license (state of residence) that meets City’s insurability requirements
Other Conditions:
- Must pass a background check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Coursework in business or accounting courses equivalent to 12 credit hours
- One (1) year clerical experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word and/or Excel
