What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Quality Analyst position at City of Greeley?
The Water Quality Analyst is a laboratory position responsible to collect and perform quality control and NPDES required tests on wastewater samples, calculate and enter data, prepare chemicals and maintain equipment. Work involves wet chemistry, taking water samples from rivers (both upstream and downstream), pretreatment samples from industrial users, and the wastewater treatment plant. The analyst performs required tests and prepares appropriate reports for the WPCF, state and federal monitoring agencies. Duties also include performing process control tests to ensure the wastewater treatment plant is functioning correctly. Analysts perform quality control tests to ensure the method and procedure's reliability. Analyst will work Monday through Friday and will be required to work some Saturdays and holidays to ensure coverage.
- Four year college degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or a related field desired;
- Minimum one (1) year wastewater treatment or industrial laboratory experience desirable;
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of wastewater chemistry and of standard EPA approved laboratory methods;
- Knowledgeable of laboratory QA/QC procedures;
- Valid driver license and a good driving record;
- Ability to obtain the RMWQAA Laboratory Analyst Level I Certification within one year of hire.
- Monitor instruments, meters, gauges and data for compliance with operating standards;
- Record data accurately and neatly to maintain organized files and data base;
- Collect and analyze wastewater samples;
- Make precise arm-hand positioning movements and maintain static arm-hand position;
- Make controlled muscular movements to adjust and manipulate analytical equipment;
- Be precise and detail-oriented;
- Be organized and maintain a clean and tidy work environment;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
