General Definition of Work
Performs work maintaining and repairing all internal and external parks facilities and grounds, operating equipment to landscape, maintaining vehicles and equipment, maintaining playground equipment, cleaning park facilities, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Functions
· Performs daily internal and external maintenance and minor repairs of the City’s park facilities.
· Operates equipment to landscape, mow, weed-eat, and trim park grounds; trims trees and bushes in park areas.
· Maintains playground equipment; inspects and repairs playground equipment; ensures the area is properly mulched and safe for use; assists with the assembly of playgrounds and similar projects as assigned.
· Maintains vehicles and equipment.
· Cleans and maintains park facilities; ensures park restrooms and public facilities are in good condition; cleans park shelters as needed and empties trash barrels.
· Prepares athletic fields for use as directed.
· Lays out gravel for parking lots and sidewalks.
· Performs snow removal on all park roads, facilities, and sidewalks.
· Maintains courts; replaces lights, paints lines, and installs nets.
All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and three to five years of experience in parks maintenance, minor repairs and equipment maintenance, basic forestry and landscaping, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications
· Become a Certified Safety Playground Inspector through an approved organization within six months of hire.
· Obtain a valid commercial driver’s license Class B in the State of Missouri within six months of hire.
· Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for position.
· May require possession of, or ability to obtain, specific licenses and/or certifications depending on departmental assignment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.36 - $25.70 per hour
