What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at City of Hazelwood?
Under the supervision of the Program Specialist-Programs, the Summer Camp Counselor(s) is responsible for the daily supervision of campers and the implementation of all scheduled camp activities to include crafts, games, swimming, field trips, etc.
Duties:
· Supervise and maintain safety of campers ages 6-11 daily
· Lead scheduled camp activities to include crafts, games, swimming, field trips, etc. under the direction of the Summer Camp Manager(s)
· Communicate and collaborate with camper caregivers to provide high quality service and address issues in a timely manner.
· Maintain and organize all camp supplies and camp spaces for daily use
· Administer First Aid as needed
· All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Age 16 or older at time of hire
· Experience working with elementary to middle school-aged children
· Previous summer camp experience preferred
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Hold or have the ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification (provided upon hire)
· Must be able to work in a variety of settings including outdoors in summer weather conditions
· Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
· Must be available Monday-Friday June 10-August 2, 2024 for regular camp season and required pre-camp training to be scheduled during the week of June 2-9, 2024
Salary Range:
$12.30 per hour
