The City of Helotes is seeking a qualified individual for the position of FIREFIGHTER/EMT (Paramedic Preferred). Located about 20 minutes northwest of downtown San Antonio on State Highway 16 (Bandera Rd.) at the edge of the Texas Hill Country. The City of Helotes Fire Department serves a population of approximately 8,800 residents. Currently, the department responds to approximately 350 fire calls and 825 EMS calls annually. The Helotes Fire Department employs 1-Primary Rescue Engine, 1-Reserve/Mutual Aid Engine, 1-Class 3 TIFMAS Engine, 1- TIFMAS Tender, 1- Small Brush Truck, and 2-Frazer MICU capable Ambulances. The Central Fire Station was built in 2010 with a number of amenities for personnel who inhabit the building. HFD is an all-hazards response department that provides Fire, EMS, Rescue, Wildland, Investigative, and Fire Prevention services to the community. A number of training opportunities are available to advance candidate's careers that include Swift Water Rescue, Wildland Firefighting, and a variety of EMS educational opportunities along with state-of-the-art advanced medical field protocols. REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certified or immediately certifiable as a Basic Structural Firefighter by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
- Certified or Licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services at as a Basic Emergency Medical Technician.
- Hold a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Must obtain a Texas Class B license within 1 year.
