Are you a visual artist, performer, or creative community-builder who loves helping others get inspired? Our Hidden Creek Community Center is looking for instructors to lead fun, low-pressure classes, workshops, and events for adults interested in tapping into their creativityWe’re especially interested in instructors with backgrounds in 2D visual arts (like drawing, painting, collage) or performance-based arts (like theater, storytelling, or music). Whether your passion is painting or performance, embroidery or improv, we want to hear from you! This is a great opportunity to share your skills, connect with the community, and create welcoming spaces where creativity and culture come to life. This is a flex staff position and will generally work under 20 hours per week.


In this role you will: 
  • Assist with the creative and community-based low-barrier programs rooted in visual arts, crafts, cultural programs, theater, or live performances -- all creative backgrounds are welcome.

  • Assist with hands-on classes, workshops, or performance building programs that inspire creativity and connection.

  • Support the City’s goals around access to the arts, wellness, and cultural connection.

  • Help bring energy to a modern, vibrant facility through programming that reflects Hillsboro’s diverse community.

  • Make a real impact by offering fun, welcoming experiences to our community.


Current and Upcoming Projects:
Assist with leading existing programs and begin planning Winter/Spring programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Cultural Enrichment Supervisor on seasonal planning and program ideas.

  • Plan and lead enrichment classes, workshops, drop-ins, and/or live performancetargeted towards adults.

  • Assist with the creation of engaging classes and workshops that are approachable for beginners and adaptable for all.

  • Set up and clean up classrooms, activity areas, or performance spaces before and after sessions.

  • Ensure spaces, supplies, and equipment are used safely and respectfully.

  • Keep basic records like attendance, room setups, and communication.

  • Foster a positive, welcoming space that reflects Hidden Creek’s community values.

  • Attend occasional team meetings or training sessions.

  • Has experience with teaching, community engagement, or public program facilitation.

  • Genuinely interested in cultural, visual, and performance programs.

  • Committed to community-building and making programs feel safe and inclusive for all.

  • Organized and self-motivated, with strong follow-through on class preparation and responsibilities.

    • Has experience in creative fields such as visual arts, crafts, or cultural enrichment (formal education not required).

    • Able to clearly articulate ideas and program needs with ability to meet deadlines.

    • Ability to lead groups and speak confidently in front of participants.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Reliable, organized, and able to manage class planning and setup independently.

    • Comfortable working with diverse populations and groups.


Participates in the instruction and organization of recreation programs; performs directly related work as required.

The principal function of an employee in this class is to participate in the instruction and organization of City recreational programs. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor, but some leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative. This class is distinguished from the class of Recreation Instructor I by lead worker duties. Lead worker responsibilities are exercised over employees in the classes of Recreation Instructor I and Recreation Program Aide. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with the assigned supervisor, other City employees, program participants, and the general public.  The principal duties of this class are performed at recreation facilities.  This is a non-exempt position.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; and

• Some related work experience; or

• Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

• Ability to attend work on a regular, predictable basis as scheduled.

Bilingual incentive pay available

Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English.

Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, or any language spoken by over ten percent (10%) of City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, at a proficiency level determined by a fluency test administered by the City, will receive a monthly premium of three percent (3%) of their regular base pay.
