What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gliders Track & Field Coach position at City of Issaquah?
Come join the Gliders Track and Field team this Spring and Summer! Coaches are needed to help lead, encourage, and teach our runners ages 5-13 in creative and fun ways. Gliders is an introductory/recreational program to the world of Track and Field. We always setup our practices to make them fun, safe and make sure every participant succeeds at their ability level. Our track athletes will run, throw, and jump in this program and we need energetic leaders to show them how exciting this sport is – can you answer the call?
Gliders practices run in the evenings Monday – Wednesday at a local Issaquah School District track, with a few track meets on Thursday evenings throughout the seasons. Spring season runs April 22 – May 23. Summer season runs June 3 – July 11. This position is open to individuals ages 15 years and older, though, 18 and older are encouraged to apply!

- Act both as a running coach and running partner for both Track and Field and Cross-Country programs.
- Run with participants on mountain trails, sidewalks, and City park tails.
- Coordinate, set up, and clean up at track and cross country meets.
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification recommended.
- Track and field, cross country, or other running/sport experience.
- Attendance at practices and events required.
- Experience with Gliders program preferred.
- Volunteer or paid coaching experience preferred.
- Familiarity with trails and parks in Issaquah and Sammamish preferred.
- Qualified applicants over 18 years of age must pass a criminal background screen.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a group.
- Ability to interact with and motivate children.
Salary : $17 - $25
