- Receives vehicles and customers entering the disposal sites and directs them to proper disposal areas based on waste types and quantities.
- Ensures vehicles and customers are in compliance with disposal site policies and procedures. Screens incoming waste loads for banned materials; rejects unacceptable waste materials.
- Processes cash and charge payments in accordance with established site user fees. Collects money, processes payment and issues receipt for payment. Enters financial transactions into computer software system and balances the deposit.
- Prepares appropriate financial records and billing reports as required for use by other division and department staff.
- Maintains accurate and current records of daily disposal site operations.
- Communicates via radio to other city employees.
- Performs related office duties, including filing materials, sorting materials. Performs cleaning activities within attendant building.
- Responds to customer inquiries of basic division information within established guidelines; refers customer to appropriate person.
- Maintains confidentiality of the division.
- Follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures; reports all unsafe conditions and acts to supervisor; reports all accidents to the supervisor immediately whenever possible; follows recognized safe work practices.
- Performs other special projects and other job duties as assigned or required during regular and non-business hours.
- All employees may be assigned by the City Manager or their designee to perform duties and assume responsibilities that are outside the scope of their work duties when the City Manager has declared a City disaster or the City Emergency Operations Center has been initiated.
Minimum education and experience required to perform essential duties of the position.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous clerical and customer service experience preferred.
- A valid, state-issued driver’s license at time of hire is required.
