Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the part time Accounting Assistant will work independently to assist the Finance Department with tasks primarily related to accounting, accounts payable, budget, and audit.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.
1. Create and record journal entries as needed including standard recurring entries.
2. Research and compile statistics
3. Assist with preparation of the budget and the budget book.
4. Assist with account reconciliation duties.
5. Assist with budget preparation, fiscal year end closing, and annual audit.
6. Create requisitions as needed.
7. Assist with accounts payable processes.
8. Assist with hotel audits.
9. Create monthly reports.
10. Assist other accounting staff and Utility Billing department as needed.
11. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word
· Good computer skills
· Previous experience with Incode preferred
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
· Ability to perform basic math calculations
· Attention to detail
· Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:
· Computer and related software, printer, telephone, postage machine, and copier.
Education, Certification and Experience Required:
· Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by related college courses.
· A minimum of one year of experience in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
· Possession of a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Duties are generally performed in an office setting. Some light work requiring occasional lifting objects up to 30 pounds to move objects. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Work may require stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
