Join the City of Lakeville as a Streets Maintenance II worker! This position involves performing a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of City infrastructure. Duties include operating equipment, manual labor, and general maintenance of streets, right-of-ways, signs, and storm sewer systems.
This position must be available for extended work days, call backs and shift schedules as required for the City's maintenance operations.
Anticipated hiring range: $30.27 - $32.58 per hour
2024 salary range: $30.27 - $39.16 per hour

- Perform snow and ice control operations using trucks, graders, loaders and other specialized pieces of equipment.
- Responds to clean up and/or maintenance of storm related events.
- Mow boulevards, bike path areas and ditches.
- Perform pruning, removal, and replacement of boulevard trees.
- Perform all phases of spring cleanup, including street sweeping, seal coating and construction cleanup.
- Perform street cleaning operations, catch basin repairs and cleaning and storm sewer inlet and outlet maintenance.
- Install, maintain and replace street identification and traffic control signs and pavement markings.
- Perform minor and major repairs to asphalt and gravel road surfaces including patching, overlays and crack sealing.
- Perform concrete curb and sidewalk repair and replacement.
- Perform loading and hauling of materials for street maintenance and repair.
- Perform minor vehicle, building, and grounds maintenance.
- Adhere to and implement all safety rules, regulations and practices, including wearing appropriate safety equipment as necessary to protect the employee, the operation, and the public.
- Promote and maintain good relations between co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
- Perform other maintenance tasks and assist other maintenance divisions as assigned, including emergency situations or to balance seasonal workloads and schedules.
May operate any of the following equipment:
- snow plow equipment
- road grader
- backhoe
- tandem heavy trucks
- street sweeper
- skid loader
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, construction methods and maintenance activities.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to perform sustained physical work in a variety of weather conditions.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Class B MN drivers license with tanker endorsement. Class A MN drivers license with tank endorsement preferred.
- Experience in public asphalt and concrete construction, maintenance, and repair work is preferred.
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol test.
