HIRING RANGE: $22.00 - $24.00/hour The City of Lakewood Human Resources Department is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated intern to assist with process documentation and workflow mapping. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in analyzing, documenting, and improving internal HR processes. The intern will work closely with HR staff to support ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, standardization, and training across the department. The City of Lakewood is currently recruiting variable employees for this position. A variable employee is an at-will employee who works in a seasonal or temporary capacity. Their work schedule is based on business need. This position would be a part-time non benefitted position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City’s discretion. Partner with HR staff to explore current workflows and pinpoint opportunities for documentation or process enhancement. Create clear and consistent documentation of workflows, checklists, and process maps using tools such as Word, Excel, or Visio. Organize and update job aids for internal HR use. Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or duplications in existing processes and flag them for review. Assist with version control, formatting, and labeling of process documentation for easy access. Provide support for special projects related to operational improvements or system transitions. Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex workflows and identify areas for improvement or simplification. Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage effectively with HR team members to gather information and feedback. Time Management: Strong organizational skills to balance multiple tasks and meet project deadlines. Confidentiality and Professionalism: Understands the importance of handling sensitive employee or organizational information with discretion. Adaptability: Comfortable learning new tools or systems and adjusting to evolving project priorities. Interest in Human Resources: General understanding of or curiosity about HR functions and operations. Experience: Experience with administrative tasks, documentation, or process improvement is preferred but not required. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Must successfully complete and maintain required state or departmental physical standards and certifications.
