The City of Lakewood is currently recruiting variable employees for this position. A variable employee is an at-will employee who works in a seasonal or temporary capacity. Their work schedule is based on business need. This position would be a part-time non benefitted position. MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This job description does not intend to list every function of the position.) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Sets up livestreams for meeting cablecasts • Creates graphics for live meetings • Uses composition and videography skills to switch cameras during meetings • Troubleshoots problems to ensure smooth on-air meetings • Works with city clerk’s office before and during meetings • Performs other duties as assigned. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Supervision Received Works under direct supervision of the Media Services Manager Supervision Given None ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Education Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Communications or related field from an accredited college is preferred. Appropriate experience in lieu of education may be acceptable. Experience Minimum two years of live broadcast directing or technical directing required. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Licensure/Certification/Registration Valid driver’s license and good driving record preferred. Other knowledge, skills, and abilities Excellent computer skills (Mac and Windows) and ability to learn new software quickly Ability to troubleshoot technical equipment problems Knowledge of television and video production techniques Experience with Broadcast Pix equipment preferred Knowledge of production practices including, but not limited to: camera, audio, video, graphics, directing, and editing. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision making in solving problems and meeting organizational objectives. Skill in independently adapting, interpreting, and applying written guidelines, precedents, and standardized work practices to a variety of unprecedented or problematic situations. Ability to identify, prioritize, and complete tasks within established time frames with minimal supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and citizens. A background check is required. Must demonstrate regular and reliable attendance. Due to the nature of the work, an employee in this position may be considered essential. Essential personnel are determined by the chain of command, the type of emergency and the human resources needed. Pay Range $14.42-$57.21 Background and reference checks will be conducted for all regular and some variable/seasonal positions.
