The City of Liberty is seeking an enthusiastic, certified Evening Aqua Group Exercise Instructor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will lead group aqua fitness classes at the Liberty Community Center, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and effective workout for all participants. This position plays a key role in creating a positive experience that supports the health and wellness goals of our community.
Schedule & Availability Requirements
- Required: Monday and Wednesday evenings
- Optional/Substitute Opportunities: Morning or additional evening classes based on instructor availability

Audition Process
Applicants will be asked to conduct a sample class as part of the interview process to demonstrate instruction style, participant engagement, and safety awareness. More details will be provided to qualified candidates.
Essential Functions
- Design and instruct Aqua Fitness classes in alignment with the intended format and certification guidelines, in coordination with the Fitness Supervisor.
- Ensure participant safety by implementing proper safety procedures and monitoring the pool area throughout class.
- Provide appropriate exercise modifications for varying fitness levels and correct form to prevent injuries.
- Create and maintain a positive, motivating, and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
- Set up and break down equipment before and after each class; maintain a clean and organized pool and storage area.
- Utilize GroupEx Pro for sub requests, participant reservations, and attendance tracking.
- Stay informed of team policies, events, and updates by reading weekly staff emails.
- Attend required staff meetings and training sessions, both in-person and virtual.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Fitness, health and wellness principles and how to apply them in teaching fitness classesPhysical modifications for individuals of all ages
- Plan, develop and implement a class curriculum as established by certification
- Be dependable, reliable and exhibit exceptional leadership skills and qualities
- Ability to motivate and inspire participants.
- Previous experience teaching aquatic fitness classes is preferred.
- Passion for health and fitness.
Experience
- Three months experience in teaching aqua fitness classes is preferred.
Training
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
License or Certificate
- Certified Group Exercise Instructor through a nationally recognized organization such as: AAAI, ACSM, ACE, AFAA, AEA, AFPA, NETA, or YMCA equivalent.
- Possess and maintain current CPR/AED certification or obtain within 30 days of hire date.
