City of Macomb – Wastewater Maintenance/Operator I

The City of Macomb is seeking a Full-Time Wastewater Maintenance/Operator I (in training) to join our Wastewater Division.
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain and repair wastewater treatment plant and collection system infrastructure.
· Perform manual labor to support assigned tasks.
· Operate small equipment and hand tools.
· Follow all safety procedures and use safe work practices.
· Set up barricades and railings to secure work zones.
· Respond to emergencies as part of Public Works protocols.
· Assist with plant operations or J.U.L.I.E. locates if qualified; may work independently.
Requirements:
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, climbing, and crawling.
· Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and methods used in public works tasks.
· Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
· Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with others and the public
· Valid Illinois driver’s license and willingness to attend training and earn certifications.
· Residency in McDonough County required
· Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: Starting Annual $44,305.58/ $21.31 hourly, Employer Paid Health Insurance, IMRF Retirement, and more.
