What are the responsibilities and job description for the Combination Plan Reviewer/Inspector position at City of Manassas?

- Reviews architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and site construction plans for conformance with applicable codes and policies.
- Conducts field inspections for code compliance of residential and/or commercial structures including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, gas, plumbing and other items.
- Interprets codes and aids contractors, engineers, architects, and the public to resolve outstanding plan review and inspection issues to process and approve applications over-the-counter for minor construction projects.
High school diploma or GED supplemented by a Vocational/Technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing Systems, Construction, or related field; at least five (5) years of experience in both commercial and residential inspections is required; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Must have either a Combination Residential Inspector Certification or Combination Commercial Inspection Certification and obtain and maintain the following certifications within eighteen (18) months of employment: Combination Residential Inspector, Combination Commercial Inspector, and Combination Building Plans Examiner; may be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the City.
Valid State Driver’s License required.
