What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Park Worker position at City of Mesquite?
Salary: $10.26/hr. minimum - $10.85/hr. midpoint (Depending on qualifications)
To perform a variety of semi-skilled duties involved in the planting, care, and maintenance of park grounds; and to perform specialized projects as assigned.
SUPERVISION
General supervision is provided by the District Park Supervisor.
- To perform skilled work in the repair of a variety of park vehicles and maintenance equipment including tractors with various mowers and attachments, trucks, trailers, and small engine equipment to include riding mowers, lawn mowers, edgers, weed eaters, blowers, chain saws and other related equipment; to perform preventative maintenance to a variety of park vehicles and maintenance equipment; and to perform various other duties as assigned.
- Participate in a variety of plant maintenance and landscape duties including trimming trees and shrubs, pulling weeds, mowing and edging lawns, raking recreation areas, watering plants and trees, sweeping, and clearing fallen trees from the public paths and walkways.
- Participate in a variety of park facilities maintenance duties including the preparation of baseball fields by reseeding and leveling the base paths on the baseball diamond, marking of bases, cutting of lines, and clearing debris from the parking lots.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment including power tools, lawnmowers, trucks, and tractors; perform general maintenance duties including refueling, changing oil, and lubricating parts; make minor adjustments as necessary.
- Pick up litter from grounds and empty trash containers throughout assigned parks.
- Participate in the installation, maintenance and repair of fencing.
- Repair various hand tools, shovels, hoes, rakes, loppers, litter sticks, and axes; participate in the sharpening of chainsaws and hand tools.
- Participate in checking in and out of park maintenance tools.
- Pick up and receive park maintenance parts and materials.
EDUCATION
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of experience performing park maintenance equipment repair duties is preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid driver's license.
WORK SCHEDULE
Three days a week with 8 hours a day, for a maximum of 24 hours a week.
Days will fall between Monday and Friday.
7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
