Directs all phases of the animal control program. Supervises field and shelter operations and coordinates field activities. Performs other duties as required for smooth and efficient operation of the program. Sets and enforces departmental policies and procedures.

Excellent public relations and written communication skills. Knowledge of domestic and wild animals and of the animal laws at the federal, state, and local levels. Knowledge of criminal investigations and court procedures.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification
Bachelors degree in a related field or a high school diploma or equivalent plus five years of supervisory experience in animal control required. Administrative and Advanced Certification in Animal Control is required. A valid Texas driver's license is required.
- Plans and directs the field and shelter activities.
- Prepares work schedules for Animal Control Officers.
- Trains Animal Control personnel.
- Prepares written communication and supervises special projects.
- Makes decisions concerning animal dispositions and animal disease recognition.
- Notifies the Texas Department of Health regarding zoonotic-related problems.
- Prepares public relations and animal control programs.
- Writes policies and procedures applicable to animal control issues.
- Oversees criminal investigations and the preparation of court documents by Animal Control Officers.
- Prepares required staff reports.
- Enforces Animal Control and City of Midland policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required.
