Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations**
Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this classification exists is to manage Zoo retail operations including the gift shop and admissions programs. The work responsibilities of this position may include: supervising two or more full-time employees, processing employee concerns and problems, assigning work and counseling/recommending disciplinary and other personnel actions; managing the operation of the gift shop; overseeing the daily admissions to the Montgomery Zoo; providing customer service and promoting the sale of tickets for animal encounters, rides and additional offerings; and preparing the yearly operating budget for Zoo retail operations. The Zoo Retail Manager reports directly to the Deputy Zoo Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with a major in Marketing, Management, Public Relations, Tourism, or a related field and one year of progressively responsible experience in retail sales management. Experience must include supervisory experience.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
Must be able to work on weekends, holidays and special events.
