Assistant Business Manager

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Business Manager is responsible for assisting the Business Manager with a variety of duties; fiscal management of $40 million dollar budget (FY25), to include budget preparation and analysis; authorizing and monitoring expenditures; forecasting and reporting; assisting in monitoring, controlling and advising on all financial matters of the Police Department and ensuring compliance with Department, City, Federal and Accreditation standards. Participates in collective bargaining negotiations and the legislative approval process for five sworn and civilian union contracts. This position will assist in conducting procedural training for newly promoted Sergeants, Lieutenants and command staff in the area of budget and finance. This is a full-time Unaffiliated position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is grade 17, with a salary ranging $91,292 - $94,948 (based upon experience).

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting
• Five to eight years similar or related work experience in municipal environment; familiar with working in a paramilitary organization; Combined of equivalent education and experience will be considered
• Possess excellent written, interpersonal skills and experience in public speaking
• Organized, self-directed and resourceful
• Knowledge of: Department of Justice Grants Management and Forfeiture fund regulations; FLSA and FMLA Regulations, MS Professional Office Suite
• Ability to: work in a fast-paced work environment with multiple deadlines, prioritize job duties, effectively communicate with others
