What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian Full-time position at City of New Berlin?
Provides routine indoor and outdoor custodial maintenance services for various assigned municipal buildings and grounds.
- Performs general custodial maintenance of municipal buildings including wall, ceiling, and window washing, upholstery cleaning, dusting, and painting.
- Cleans and maintains floors including carpeting, tile, and concrete.
- Cleans restrooms.
- Removes trash and recyclables.
- Maintains and replenishes cleaning and related supplies and equipment.
- Assists maintenance supervisor and maintenance technician as needed.
- Moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms.
- Performs minor plumbing tasks as required.
- Removes snow and salts walkways.
- Replaces light bulbs when needed.
- Performs other duties as necessary to maintain a properly presentable facility.
Requires a high school diploma or GED. Experience in general maintenance, floor and carpet maintenance and operation and use of custodial equipment and supplies is preferred along with the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Sufficient strength and dexterity to operate power cleaning equipment safely.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to bend and stoop frequently.
- Ability to frequently work on ladders at various heights.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and ability to work safely and take precautions.
Variable/Flexible Schedule
